Written by comedian Lahna Turner, Pounds of Power was originally intended to be a film project for her late husband, Ralphie May. After many years of the story sitting idle, Turner rewrote it for the comic world. Turner's intent in bringing the story back to light was to pass it on to her children and allow them to see their father once again as a hero. Through humor, absurd situations, and big-hearted characters, Pounds of Power leans into hard topics like addiction, body image, and grief while showing that even heroes struggle. The books were finally finished and published more than two decades after the first draft, with her team's support. At its core, Pounds of Power believes that growth is messy, progress is not always a straight line, and friendship can be the light that cuts through the dark.
